Iseo

Iseo is a tourist area located on the south-eastern bank of the lake, which winds around a Medieval village. The Giuseppe Garibaldi square represents the centre of the land, overlooked by the Municipal palace and various shops.

In the nearby square of Statuto, the Arsenal, a palace which later became public property, the home of exhibitions and cultural expositions curated by the "Arsenal Foundation".

Taking via Mirolte, to the left of which the small 14th Century church of Santa Maria del Mercato stands, cross Via Pieve and carry on down this road to arrive at Pieve di Sant’Andrea. Returning to via Mirolte, you will see, on the right, Castello Oldofredi and the sanctuary of Santa Maria della Neve.

Upon the discovery of a land of marvels

Along Lungo lago you will find most of the establishments where you can sample an aperitif, as well as pizzerias and restaurants serving typical local dishes.

Nearby, you can admire, on both the left and right, the Corno di Predore, the island of San Paolo and Montisola.

The following parts of Iseo merit a visit: Clusane, a place famous for oven-baked tench, and Pilzone a small village famous for the historic fig plant which grows on the dome of the parish bell tower and more to the point, one of the ends of the Ancient via Valeriana: a mule track which, for millenniums, represented the only route north to Valtrompia, to presently portray the perfect meeting place of landscape, art and history.
